Which Christians today are as misunderstood as the earliest Christians were?

Not to be favorite to my own religion, but in America especially in the South, Catholics are REALLY misunderstood. Even Catholics don't understand themselves. I'm one of the more recent generation which has been blessed with understanding the faith. But there have been several who have spread lies of our faith or misrepresented it. Many see us as cannibals, saint worshippers, or even pagans. It's a taboo to be outwardly Catholic even at a Catholic school. I live in North Carolina which is a mission state. Majority of Christians are Protestant.
