On Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant, how do you beat the basketball machine?

I'm on the Radcicle thing deflecting them back but when she shoots the ones out that are on fire I can never catch them to throw them back... I've been doing this about 2 hours and I can't p it. It's pissing me off. HELP.
