No offense to LaVeyans, but what is the point in calling yourself a "satanist"?

There are two types of satanists: one worships the god Satan, equal and opposite of Yahweh, (Satan is not a fallen angel, that's Lucifer) and those are almost always just looking for attention. The second kind of satanist worships only themselves, some don't even acknowledge any god, and I'm puzzled as to why they call themselves "satanists" when it has nothing to do with Satan.
